From Concept to Creation: Another Customer Dream Takes Shape

We love seeing what our customers dream up next. Every build tells a story — a vision brought to life through craftsmanship, creativity, and a shared passion for doing something different.

Our next customer feature is one of those stand-out projects. Matt came to us with a bold idea: to turn a PROLine trailer into a weekend getaway camper. Watching their project come together reminded us how much creativity and craftsmanship can do when they meet in the middle.

We can’t wait to show you the finished product and the story behind it. These collaborations continue to push us forward, inspiring new ideas with every custom build.

Got an idea of your own? We’re always open to hearing about unique builds and fresh challenges. Let’s make your vision the next one to roll out of our shop.

From Concept to Creation: Another Customer Dream Takes Shape 1

The Vision: Why did we choose PROLine?

“I researched several brands (dealers and manufacturers), including buyer reviews, and determined ProLine in NH (not to be confused with a non-affiliated Proline dealer down south) was my preferred product. I liked the opportunity buy direct from the manufacturer and visited their facility. Dana (Salesman) spent 2 hours showing me the production facility from raw material to each build stage, even though I was not planning to buy for nearly a year. There was no question from that point I would buy from them. I additionally prioritized an all-aluminum trailer for the weight to size benefit and rust prevention.

My wife and I had a very specific list of wants for a camper. We visited the Boston RV and Camper Expo to see if what we wanted could be purchased. What we wanted could not be purchased, so it validated our plans to build our own. I built twin Murphy beds on a rail system (one with integrated desk) with regular twin size mattresses and storage space beneath, full shower (32 x 32) including shower pan and walls, 60,000 btu propane on-demand hot water heater from RecPro, 6500 btu lunchbox size propane furnace from Propex, two overhead fans from Maxxair (installed by ProLine), custom V-shaped kitchen countertop with storage beneath, closet, 30G fresh and 30G gray water tanks mounted underneath, and RV city and gravity feed water supply plumbing. I took advantage of the ProLine options for full insulation, 30-Amp AC with outlets, RV door, and windows.”

The Build: Making it All Come Together

“I added 1060 lbs, to the trailer and increased my tongue weight by 100 lbs.  I weighed it Saturday at a CAT scale; 3440 lbs includes 10 G of water.  My tongue scale weight reads 390 lbs or 11.6 %.  I was within 100 lbs of my calculations/estimates so pretty happy with that.  The trailer tracked nice, stable, and everything worked as I hoped.  My Ridgeline averaged 14.3 mpg for the tow keeping my speed between 60 and 65.  Dana suggested ‘4 clicks’ on my e brake controller and that was just about perfect.

I mentioned on the phone you couldn’t pay me to do this again (ha), but I am happy with the outcome.  There is long term value in knowing every crimp, valve, switch, fuse, ground, bolt, wire gauge, etc.  I spent a solid month under the trailer mounting tanks (30G fresh and 30 G gray), plumbing (PVC drain and Pex), Propex HS2000 6500 btu propane furnace, furnace intake and exhaust, 60,000 btu on demand hot water heater, and propane hoses (UL rated for RV).  I’m using a small 5 G propane tank (plenty for my efficient appliances), house size shower 32×32, twin articulating Murphy beds with regular size twin mattresses (one with an integrated desk), and an Ogo Origin compost toilet.  I opted for the compost toilet because I heard good things from friends about the modern versions and to avoid the black tank (weight and convenience).  I applied a coat of oil-based polyurethane to the entire bottom (probably overkill but I was under there anyway).  I used marine grade wire for my DC system, buss bars, and shunt (one of the best things I added).  I also installed a Starlink Gen 3 high speed satellite internet system which has worked great.  I may add a second small closet next spring if we need the storage but otherwise I am DONE.  It took me just shy of 4 months working on it almost every day for at least a few hours.  I am not exaggerating about the time I spent on this.  I was a maniac to get to the ‘next thing on the list’.  I lost 9 lbs working right through the record setting high temps and humidity we had down here.

I have attached a few pictures.

Thanks for the great support and help.  Dana spent 2 hours on my first visit showing me the shop and how everything is built from raw materials right through the other stages of the builds.  You have all been great answering questions I had along the way that would inform how I installed/built some items.”
